Well, I don’t know about you guys…But, I do know it seems I’m constantly going through ink cartridges. Probably more often then I actually should…But, when you have kids “which some of you, I’m sure do have…” It can get pretty crazy with all the school projects, and other stuff kids print out! And you know as well as I do most kids just don’t seem to see the problem here… “Unless, you start having them pay for the ink themselves!”
But, what I found to be an easier solution, and also a better choice if your living the green lifestyle, is to start refilling your ink cartridges by hand. It’s not as troublesome, as you might think. It’s actually quite easy…” Just be sure to wear some gloves!!” I made the mistake of not doing this and let’s just say wasn’t a ” Fun Time!!”
If you can manage to do this yourself. You will save a boat load of money and won’t be as stressed out the next time you kids run to the printer to drain all your ink. Most of these ink refill kits can be found at your local Wal-Mart really pretty much anywhere nowadays!
Here’s a little Tidbit I just learned about recently:
Did you know?
There are more than 640 ink cartridge recycle centers in Cartridge World stores throughout the U.S. Shocking facts:
1. In one year, if the world’s discarded cartridges were stacked end-to-end, they would circle the Earth more than three times.
2. It takes about a gallon of oil to make a new toner cartridge. So refilling will help save oil, especially with the current gas/oil situation.
3. Almost eight cartridges are thrown away per second in the United States.
4. In North America alone, more than 350 million cartridges per year are discarded in our landfills, and that number increases by 12% annually.
5. Every re manufactured cartridge saves nearly 3.5 pounds of solid waste from being deposited in landfills.
6. 70% of used printer cartridges throughout the world are currently being thrown out.
Definitely a lot to think about… And what is another great reason to go this route? Answer: The waste you will be saving, such as Plastics & oil! “Oh Yeah!!”
